Q. What is Blackfly TRAP™? 
A. Blackfly TRAP™ is a full-fledged computer keylogging program that allows parents, spouses and employers the ability to see what happens on their computer systems. All emails, Instant Messages (IMs), chats, and web surfing is recorded so that you remain informed of what is going on online.
Q. What does TRAP stand for? 
A. Track, Record And Pursue.
Q. How is Blackfly TRAP™ different from other key logging software? 
A. Most Internet monitoring programs save the data on the user's PC, a serious security breach if the monitored user finds out, that is why all the data is sent to our 128-bit SSL secure server where the data is then encrypted before it's stored into your password protected account. We also have the powerful On Alert! keyword alert system, which can notify you within minutes of the system identifying user-defined alert words as they come into our system.
Q. Is the information Blackfly TRAP™ records secure? 
A. Absolutely. Blackfly TRAP™ ensures the security of your data while providing you with the ability to monitor any computer from anywhere. Some products email logged data, which is NOT a secure means of transporting information - anything sent by email is extremely vulnerable, and can be seen by dozens of people before it reaches its destination. After your data is sent to our 128-bit SSL secure server, the data is encrypted before it's stored into our database.
Q. Can Blackfly TRAP™ be installed on one computer, but be monitored from a different computer, say my work computer? 
A. Yes. Once the program is installed on a computer it can be monitored from any computer in the world with an Internet connection using our password secured web system and any standard web browser.
Q. How easy is the Blackfly Account area to use? 
A. The remote Blackfly Account area is very easy to use and you can begin going through logs immediately without having to read a lengthy manual. Our web based interface is extremely user-friendly and can be conveniently accessed from any computer in the world with an Internet connection.
Q. Will Blackfly TRAP™ email me reports? 
A. No. Email is not a secure method of transmitting information. Any program that emails your data puts your private information at serious risk. Blackfly TRAP™ offers the only web-based monitoring system of its kind.
Q. Will I have to spend a lot of time reading through logs? 
A. No. We have several powerful search options that really make searching though the logs a breeze. Also, our proprietary On Alert! system scans inbound logs for the trigger words you've deemed important and you can be alerted by email or SMS Text¹ within minutes of the system detecting them.
Q. Who has access to Blackfly TRAP™ logs once it's monitoring? 
A. You are the only one that has access to your Blackfly Account once you install & activate it - unless you give your Blackfly Account access password to someone else. This allows you to have exclusive access to your Blackfly Account's logs and options.
Q. Is Blackfly TRAP™ invisible? 
A. Absolutely! Blackfly TRAP™ does not appear in the Start Menu, Add/Remove Programs, Task Manager Applications List, System Tray or on the Desktop – no Installation Data is stored in the Registry and there aren't even any visible files. Once installed and configured, Blackfly TRAP™ is friendly with all known firewall software and hardware allowing you to gather the information you need without raising any red flags.
Q. How do I install Blackfly TRAP™? 
A. After purchasing a subscription, you will be able to download the install program from within the Blackfly Account area. Look under the Account Tools section of the Account Overview page. Just follow the on-screen instructions. Important: you can download the Setup Wizard from any computer, but the SOFTWARE MUST BE INSTALLED ON THE COMPUTER YOU WISH TO MONITOR.
Q. If I subscribe to Blackfly TRAP™ now, how soon will I receive the software? 
A. Immediately. You can download and install the software after you log into your Blackfly Account area.²
Q. Is there a setup fee? Can I cancel at any time? 
A. There is no setup fee and no hidden costs! You may cancel your subscription at any time!
Q. How does the free trial work? 
A. Every Blackfly Account is eligible for one free 7-day trial of TRAP™. After signing up for a Blackfly Account, log into my.blackflynetworks.com. If you have never had a Blackfly TRAP™ subscription, you will see instructions on how to get your free trial. Complete the signup process through PayPal (you will be required to enter payment information), and your trial will become active. Cancel anytime for any reason during your 7 days and you won't be charged. To keep your subscription, simply do nothing and PayPal will automatically charge your account according to the plan you chose (Monthly or Yearly). Limit one free trial per Blackfly Account.
Q. Do I need one license for every computer that I wish to monitor? 
A. Yes. An individual license is required for every computer that you wish to monitor. If you are paying a monthly or yearly subscription, than that license can be transferred to another computer as often as you would like.
Q. Will Blackfly TRAP™ work on laptops? 
A. Yes. Blackfly TRAP™ will record computer activities and upload the data to your account when the laptop is reconnected to the Internet.³
Q. What are the system requirements?

Blackfly TRAP™ works with
Windows 2000, XP or Vista on a
Pentium Class PC (733mhz or higher, 256MB RAM) with
5MB Free hard disk space available, a
Windows TCP/IP Network, Internet Connection and Microsoft
.NET 2.0 or higher Framework installed. A high-speed or broadband Internet connection is highly recommended.
It is also recommended you have all the latest service packs and security updates installed. Information recorded by Blackfly TRAP™ is viewable on almost any system and browser. While there are lots of options for this, we recommend Internet Explorer 6 or higher.
Q. Can Blackfly TRAP™ work if a anti-virus/anti-spyware/firewall program is present? 
A. Yes, unlike other products Blackfly TRAP™ can work even if a firewall is present. Some configuration changes may be required, but it's usually very simple. If you need help, see our Need Help? Section while logged into your Blackfly Account area.
Q. Will Blackfly TRAP™ work with any and all Internet connections? 
A. Absolutely. Unlike other remote monitoring products, Blackfly TRAP™ does not care if the monitored PC is behind a hardware firewall or router, or if the PC is on a network, cable, or dialup connection (Some firewall configurations may be required - see our Need Help? section while logged into your Blackfly Account). Also, there is never any need for you to know IP addresses or port numbers! |
